Westerly Yacht Club, RI | Peter & Katy Wedding
As I closed my car door and started to walk down the driveway I began to hear the laughter. By the time the wedding day rolled around I'd met Katy, the bride, on a couple of occasions. Expecting nothing else, I entered her parents' home and found her already enjoying the start of their wedding day with a huge smile surrounded by her closest family and friends (minus Peter, the groom, of course). The day continued to be nothing short of complete magic. Peter & Katy decided to do a First Look and as I waited with Peter he couldn't wipe the grin off his face - he was beyond excited to see his bride. It was just the two of them, Katy sneaking up behind Peter as she walked across the lawn....and in the background, her dad watched as his daughter approached the one she loves, the one she chose, and the man that chose her. Having chatted over coffee during their consultation I was aware of the precious relationship Katy has with her dad. With this in mind, I captured a few moments of their First Look with her dad visible in the background. The light was perfect, a soft breeze enveloped the couple, and the faint smell of saltwater drifted up from the waterfront. As a photographer I will never take this privilege for granted. There is no cliche about it, I was able to witness the sweet moments of the couple's embrace with a front row seat. To be trusted with the responsibility of capturing their most raw and intimate moments - it's beyond beautiful.
They exchanged tearful vows, lit a beautiful candle in memory of Peter's father, shared a magical kiss (or two) and danced the night away. From cherished words shared during the toast by Katy's sister and Peter's brother, to Peter's jacket which had photos of Katy from our engagement session sewn inside - Peter & Katy, you are surrounded by friends and family who are so very clearly cheering you on. They've witnessed the way you love and care for one another and as much as you said "I do" to each other on that day, the community that you've surrounded yourself with also proclaimed "Yes - we support you!" Your love is tangible, real, and vibrant. Blessings on your marriage and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your story!
