Martha's Vineyard Wedding Inspiration - Watchmere Estate
Nestled in quite possibly the cutest most quaint place in the world (I know it’s so bold to say, but have you been to Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard?!) you’ll find a New England coastal wedding venue gem - Watchmere Estate. If you choose to tie the knot here at Watchmere you’ll be able to celebrate with up to 100 of your friends and family. A Kane Realty property, Watchmere opens the door to dream with you as you plan a celebration right for your vision and wedding day priorities. Wedding guests will enter the grounds through a tall white gate and be greeted by a classic beach house that embodies everything we love about coastal New England Island vibes.
From the balconies you’ll have a view of South Beach and Katana Bay that also provides a beautiful vantage point for your celebration. Nestled amongst a nature preservation with 1.6 acres of land that keeps your party feeling tucked away and private. Inside the main building of the estate you’ll find a master bedroom, two guest bedrooms, an open kitchen/living and dining room area and an aesthetic that allows you a true retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life as you prepare to celebrate. In addition to the main building you’ll have access to the pool house with a game room and bathroom, stone patio with a fire pit, saltwater pool, and meticulously kept grounds (and yes, plenty of hydrangea bushes that when in bloom are spectacular and totally quintessential New England).
This editorial, designed by Britt Jones Co., featured two dresses. The first, The Elle, was created by Wilden London with an undeniable presence of opulence. The cut mimics a seashell shape with a nod to the coastal beauty of Martha’s Vineyard. This dress is cut from moire silk with a halter style bodice, puffball skirt and hi-lo hem make this an incredibly unique design for 2024.
The second dress designed by Sebastien Luke is an open-back beauty. With a very different look than the first gown, this style is an Ivory guipure lace with an elegant organza ruffle and playful chiffon bow details.
Jen Lagers, a talented and internationally renowned hair and makeup artist, created two looks for the bride to match each dress seamlessly. And the groom’s attire complemented both gowns with a classic look finished with a bowtie.
For florals there was a natural gravitation towards incorporating hydrangeas of both blue and white (would it be truly New England without this?) and the bride’s bouquet was held together with flowing silk ribbon.
Other unique elements from this day were custom painted lamp shades placed on the bar top with artwork specific to Martha’s Vineyard (think: lighthouse, lobsters, a sketch of the landscape and sailboats) and the sweetest Coastal Grandfather drink (a play on the trending Coastal Grandmother movement and we are here for it). The table scape had delicate pops of green incorporated in the floral patterned plates, as well as hanging chandeliers from a sailcloth tent provided by Big Sky Tent and Party Rentals, a true Martha’s Vineyard staple when hosting an island event. For the flat lay details: a coastal scene envelope insert and dainty blue and green palette invitation suite to help secure the full MV aesthetic paired alongside accessories from Chanel and Christian Dior - the luxury elements were abounding.
This event serves as a reminder that a destination wedding doesn’t always mean jetting off to Europe, sometimes it means catching a ferry to a beautiful New England island.
Edgartown has so much historic charm to offer and as I biked the streets I found myself thinking that it’s New England’s version of Charleston, South Carolina with a more muted color palette. The town's boutiques, galleries, and seafood restaurants provide plenty of activities for guests to enjoy during their stay.
If you're dreaming of a wedding that combines the sophistication of a luxurious estate with the breathtaking beauty of a coastal destination, look no further than Watchmere Estate in Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard. And if these photos resonate with the vision and memory you hope to carry with you from your wedding day I would love the opportunity to connect with you about making your vision come to life. And along with this property, Kane Realty also has two other gorgeous locations - one in Vermont and one situated in Ireland (need I say more?). Both are worth exploring if you are searching for a unique place to whisk away to to exchange wedding vows….and take me with you back to Ireland, please!
